Compromises of Creation

History of Gap and Day-Age Theories

In 1795, Scottish farmer and naturalist James Hutton, considered to be the founder of modern geology, published his book Theory of the Earth which suggested that the earth is continuously being formed by the rising and eroding of continents. His idea suggested that the earth was far older than the 6,000 years as suggested by Holy Scripture. The Catastrophe Theories (such as the Flood) began to look less and less as a valid understanding of… Continue

Church Is Like A Sandwich

Suppose it is lunchtime and you are starving: you enter your favorite sandwich shop and place your order for that super deluxe dagwood special. As your sandwich arrives, you immediately realize something is wrong: the first clue – you are looking down at a pile of lettuce, no apparent bread. Upon closer examination you notice the whole sandwich is structured wrong, something like this: relish on the bottom, butter, a slice of bread, cheese, another slice of bread, the meat, more butter then the… Continue

The Seven Churches in Revelation and Pre-Trib Proof Texts

As with many of the things I write, I put a lot of effort into them, and pray that anyone interested would sincerely search the Scriptural references that I include in the comparative [cf.] notes. In other words, don't believe me because I say it; study the Word of God for yourself. Also, I always try to write with an attitude of patience and love, so that our enemy cannot seek to drive a wedge between any of us who may disagree. Disagreements are normal and are often healthy for good… Continue

Our Purpose

Representative: One that serves as a delegate or agent for another.

– American Heritage Dictionary

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion…

This scripture gives us wonderful insight into God’s purpose for mankind. Adam was created in the image and likeness of God. Vines tells us that image means; "image or copy" of something in the sense of a replica. According to Theological Wordbook of the Old… Continue

Why The Decline In Christianity Could Be The Best Thing For The Church

The cover story for the current issue of Newsweek (April 9, 2009) magazine is entitled "The Decline of Christian America," and presents a bleak picture of the church's future of impacting society.

Based on the 2009 American Religious Identification Survey, the article quotes the following statistics:

* The "number of Americans claiming no religious affiliation has nearly doubled since

1990, rising from 8 to 15 percent."

* The number of individuals claiming to be… Continue

What's Gods Purpose?

A lot is being said and written about purpose. This thought is prevalent in the business and motivational world. Companies are encouraged to find out what their purpose is beyond just producing a product or providing a service for profit. It is believed that in finding their purpose, they will become more successful. This success comes because of two reasons: first, by knowing their purpose they can focus solely on the actions that produce the desired results. Secondly, this focus of purpose… Continue

Endogenous Retrovirus - Responding to an Evolutionist

In April 2009, some discussions arose within an apostolic, ministerial discussion group dealing with the issue of Creationism and Evolutionism. I am re-posting some of my contributions of that discussion in this blog.

This reply is in response to a statement made by an individual from Australia who believed "endogenous retroviral fragments" are absolute proof that God used evolution to bring about humanity. I believe that this person has since (as of November 2010) renounced… Continue

Possessing Our Inheritance

It seems there was this man that for all of his life lived in need. No matter what he attempted, it seems he could never get ahead. One day he received notification that a distant relative had died and left to him their mansion. Obviously this man was elated. Finally something had gone right for him.

Upon receiving the deed and keys to the mansion, this individual proceeds to his new possession. As he arrives, he is struck with awe and amazement at its size and grandeur. With great… Continue

The Origins Debate

(Originally published 4 Feb 2009. Updated 25 March 2009.)

The whole genre of discussion regarding Origins has become a subject of utmost importance lately. As many already know, I feel a strong urgency from God to help the Church defend His Word against modern Evolutionary paradigms that have risen and are invading even the Church itself. Without compromise, regardless of what modern liberal theologians (including laymen) or the religious (or not) scientific community professes,… Continue

The Foundation of Genesis

(Originally published 5 Feb 2009 on EA. Updated 25 March 2009.)

The Bible firmly declares, "be ready always to give an answer (Grk. apologia, a defense) to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meakness and fear" (1 Pet. 3:15). I do not expect every laymen or minister to articulate a defense against evolutionary ideologies, but I do want to warn the Church against the lies that Satan is currently using to invade the Church—the same lies he told Eve in the… Continue

Some background info on Nathan

This was in response to a message from Donnie. I've put it on here at his suggestion that others be able to see it as well.

I've been in Latvia as a teacher in an English-speaking international school for a few years. Before that, we were two years in Morocco teaching as well. I'm originally from Arkansas, but spent several years in Indiana where I went to university and also in France where I studied and worked for a few years as well. Having a… Continue

Born to Believe?

Recently there has been some research that people apparently are born believing that everything has purpose and design, and that makes them predisposed to Creationism.

In 2008, Dr. Justin Barrett of Oxford University's Centre for Anthropology and Mind revealed that children as young as one year are able to recognize when an intelligent mind is at work, and to distinguish between what inanimate objects and people can do. For example, the research found that babies were surprised when… Continue

Traditional Church VS Apostolic Church

In an earlier article, "Why We Are Not Apostolic," we presented the definition of tradition. To summarize, it is the act of giving over, giving up or surrender. It has the same etymology as the word treason. Jesus said, "Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men," (Mark 7:7-8). Jesus declares the results of these traditions in verse 13, "Making the word of God of none effect through… Continue

Do People Look At You Strange?

When I minister in other countries, there is this barely perceptible, but yet real emotional maybe psychological thing that happens when I return home. It seems that when I arrive back at the first major U.S. airport, there is this sigh and relaxation that passes through me. As I am making my way to immigrations, there is always a little charge when I see the sign that signifies the line for US passport holder or citizens.

After much thought, I have come to the conclusion that this… Continue

Why We Are Not Apostolic

In a previous post, we presented the idea that the proof of being apostolic was not in our doctrine or structure, but it was obediently going and doing what we have been sent to do. The challenge we face is that in many (if not most) believers lives and churches we are not going. Now I understand there are always exceptions and there are churches and believers out there who are being apostolic. However, as a whole we are not accomplishing the great commission. So the question begs to be asked:… Continue

The Emperer's New Clothes

(There are many forces against the church…trying to separate the church from God…separate the church from its leadership…or separate the church from both.

In the Old Testament, a man by the name of Levi was the father of the Levites. The Levites were the ministers of the Word of God. Guess whose descendants Moses and Aaron were. That’s right; they were “Levi’s”!)

Now, I’ve ‘bout had it with some of these fables and fairy tales. Have you ever heard the story of The… Continue
