Church Leaders: What Are We Building?

Recently I viewed a video of legendary basketball coach John Wooden describing his definition of success. In essence, his goal was not to build a winning basketball team: his goal was to build people. By help each individual come closer to realizing their full potential, they would be a success and the by-product would be a winning team.

My mind naturally went to Christianity and church. I asked my self a question: “Do we seek to build successful churches or to build people?” Jesus’ ministry wa… Continue

Will Your 2010 Goals Cost You?

Happy New Year. It is the beginning of 2010. Usually at this time we plan a fresh start – which is good. Many of us have made the resolutions, stated our goals and we are looking forward with anticipation to a better year. Yes, 2010 can bring a year of success if we are willing to do the one thing all goals have in common and that is – change.

It seems like it is a law somewhere, if I want to go up I must give up. To be different I have to do different. So if my goals challenge me to change, wi… Continue

Joy to the World - Far as the Curse is Found

Recently, I noticed something very interesting while listening to a local religious radio station. With the unending Christmas carols, I heard four different renditions of Joy to the World, as performed by different artists, in the space of one hour alone. What was interesting is that none of the artists ever sung the third verse. They all played the first and fourth, and only one included the second verse, but every one of them skipped the third verse entirely.

For the sake of illustrat… Continue

Tis the season to be Jolly...

Tis the season to be Jolly... but how do you balance fact from fiction? Yes, I know Jesus was not born on “Christmas Day” or maybe it’s more correct to say Jesus was most likely not born on Dec 25. You don’t have to go into the origin of Christmas, Mistletoe, Holly wreath, etc., I know this. But, I have gone to Churches where if Dec 25 is on a church day, they preach against paganism, and there sure are a lot of confused and discouraged visitors, especially children. I have also gone to churches… Continue

How To Be Average

I have been doing some research and studying lately: looking at various experts’ material regarding business, marketing and the web. I am searching to see if there are common principles in each presentation. So far there is a few. One of them is the idea of risk.

Let me put it in my words:
Those that are successful are willing to take risks.
Those who play it safe will be average.

We remember the risk takers: the Wright bothers, Neil Armstrong, Chuck Yeager (I know, these are some older exampl… Continue

The Network

This Network exists for three primary purposes: 1) to connect like-minded apostolic brethren; 2) to announce meetings and gatherings; 3) and to enable believers to locate local assemblies committed to the themes described on the website GloriousChurch.com.

To locate an assembly, click the Assemblies tab at the top of this page and search by the name of your city or one near by. Each local assembly has expressed a firm commitment to the principles of this Network. We are not, however, in a position offer any unqualified endorsements. To assist you in selecting an assembly, please see our Criteria for Evaluating an Assembly.pdf.

To become a Member on this site, you must affirm your commitment to our Five Pillars of Fellowship and our Core Values. Please read Description and Policies of the Network.pdf. Then click the My Page tab to apply.

Definitions

The term "elder" has a definitive meaning within the context of the New Testament church, where it refers exclusively to men who are biblically qualified and appointed as members of the pastoral team of a local assembly (Acts 14:23; Acts 20:17, 28). Unfortunately, in the church jargon of today, the term "elder" is often used to describe someone who serves on a church board or in some kind of position under the authority of a single pastor. In such cases, this is NOT a biblically accurate use
