I am a pastoral elder and teacher at my local assembly. I also travel and present seminars on a variety of subjects. I have written numerous articles and books. I am available to teach local assemblies and groups of leaders on any of the subjects contained on GloriousChurch.com.
Brother Huston,
Just to let you know, I have read your updates concerning Description and Policies of Network. You are doing an excellent job of clearly defining the Network objectives. It strengthens our purpose while avoiding areas that have a tendency to distract and pull energy and interest from the Network. I am compelled to say that, I like the objectives as stated...and in my spirit, feel they are correct.
Brother, it's good to see that you're promoting home schooling among Apostolics. Wish we had this kind of support when we were home schooling our three girls. We knew no one at the time we began that was home schooling. Some were supportive, others cast a doubtful eye (even in our local assembly)…we just had to press on with our decision. As time went one, there were home school support groups, and finally a state wide home school graduation…in which our first daughter participated in the very first one…and others began to follow our decision.
We eventually discovered some of the myths thrown at home schoolers were just that…myths!...the social deprivation myth being one of the most blatantly ignorant ones. Each of our daughters are well-rounded in personality and do not hurt for friends, or in forming friendships. One is happily married and raising our very first grandchild! Another does a lot of paper and phone work at a huge respiratory business (and in the process of getting married to a fine young Apostolic man in May), and the last works in one of the large department stores in our area. So, as you can probably see, they did learn more than coloring books (lol!). They CAN actually count, and really DO know their ABC’s and were able, early on, to carry on intelligent conversation – with children OR adults, and they did get to talk to their first “outsider” before they were 21 years old. In other words, they CAN function in society. But most of all, each of them are baptized in Jesus’ Name and filled with the Holy Ghost and still living for God today! (For which we are very indebted to our gracious God for!) But our Apostolic families DO need your help.
That's absolutely great! I'm liking you folks more all the time. I also believe you're right. The government is involved in too much of our lives already, and I'm afraid has long ago left its God give duty to praise the righteous and punish the wicked. We definitely need protection from its wayward influence upon our precious young children. More power to you, Brother!
I am really enjoying your video's on Home Church. Great stuff. Its funny, because we have implemented a lot of the things on there, being moved on by God. Its good to see a little confirmation in what God is showing us. Thanks for your burden brother. Peace-
Lorne
